Full job description
This opportunity is open to Iqaluit residents only.
Reporting to the Manager, Virtual Care Service within the Health Information Unit (HIU), the Virtual Care Service Coordinator (Coordinator) is responsible for supporting the effective implementation and ongoing operations of a diverse and evolving range of local, regional and community-based virtual care services. The activities of the position are conducted on a territorial and regional basis, with a focus on the delivery of health care services, which will have a significant impact on the accessibility of these services and may have an impact on the level of care of the population of Nunavut.
In addition, the Coordinator contributes to the organization by implementing and supporting a territory-wide system for the delivery and support of health services through the use of advanced medical devices and health information technologies.
Its role is to support the use of technologies such as videoconferencing, secure messaging, patient portals and remote patient monitoring to design, develop, implement and support new healthcare services on a territorial scale. In many cases, these are services that could not be provided by conventional means. The coordinator will also supervise virtual care site facilitators and planners, and work directly with them on day-to-day virtual care activities, including planning, patient registration and consultation support. Other duties of this position may also include working with OSHNI, Ongomiizzwin, KIS and other out-of-territory case managers to develop processes and programs to reduce unnecessary medical travel through increased virtual care consultations.
The knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are usually acquired through a recognized degree in computer science, information technology, health informatics, nursing, or a related field.
This is a highly sensitive position. A satisfactory criminal record check and clearance to work with vulnerable people is required.
