Position Overview
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Lead works collaboratively to develop and deliver Annauma’s grantmaking and community engagement efforts. The Lead represents Annauma externally by developing trust-based relationships with community stakeholders in Nunavut. This position requires a strong understanding of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) principles and societal values. Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and an ability to engage in shared decision-making are essential. The position will require some travel, mainly within Nunavut, to meet with grantees, visit communities, support storytelling, and attend meetings and conferences.
Job Functions
Grant Management & Administration
• Lead Annauma’s granting programs in a way that values IQ and Inuktitut Philanthropy, working in close collaboration with the Executive Director and Annauma’s Granting Advisory Council.
• Build trust-based relationships with potential and current grantees; engage with grantees to explore funding opportunities and consult with grantees on project plans, budgets, and implementation updates.
• Develop and facilitate grant information workshops.
• Develop messaging and communications about grant activities for internal and external audiences. Administer grant applications, complete due diligence processes, develop and prepare grant agreements, support the processing of grant payments, and monitoring of grantee progress.
• Write meaningful reports for internal and external stakeholders (Board of Directors, donors, and others) showcasing grantee stories.
• Assist with developing new policies and procedures related to grants management, and make recommendations that affect existing policies, procedures, and practices.
Community Engagement
• Work proactively to ensure Annauma and its programs are accessible to Nunavummiut and communities across Nunavut.
• Act as an ambassador for Annauma and a resource for external stakeholders to learn about Annauma’s granting programs and mission.
• Assist in the planning and implementation of community engagement and learning strategies.
• Participate in committees and collaboratives to pursue collective impact and learninopportunities.
Contributing to Annauma’s long-term success
• Participate in Annauma’s strategic planning, operational planning, learning and evaluation processes, team meetings, and day-to-day operations and administration.
Experience and Education
• 5 years of experience working or volunteering within the nonprofit sector in Nunavut.
• 5 years of program management, coordination, or delivery within Nunavut and/or three years of administration or a certificate/diploma/degree in administration or related field.
Additional Skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google for Business.
• Inuktitut is an asset (speaking, listening, reading, writing).
• Ability to create safe, welcoming, and inclusive spaces for conversation.
• Experience facilitating groups, tailored to the Nunavut context.
• Strong relationship builder and networker.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
• Quick learner.
• Flexible and adaptable.
