For full-time, permanent nurses, recruitment bonuses include: $5,000 on start date, $5,000 at 18 months of service and $10,000 at 30 months of service. Additional premiums include a $9,000 Annual Frontline Allowance and a $375 Monthly Retention Bonus of $4,500 per year.

Reporting to the Nurse Manager, Surgical Services the Registered Nurse – OR/RR/Day Surgery/CSR (RN) is a member of the surgical team that focuses on identifying and meeting the individual needs of the surgical patients throughout the perioperative experience. The RN provides excellent care to the surgical population using critical thinking skills guided by the Perioperative Standards through the Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) Standards, Guidelines and Position Statements. Working in collaboration with the health care team, the RN uses basic and expanded nursing knowledge to address the physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, and spiritual responses of the patient of the surgical event, with the objective of maintaining or regaining optimal patient health.

The RN is responsible and accountable for providing individualized patient care (ORNAC standard).  The position provides a safe work environment, responds to urgent and/or emergent situations in a timely and appropriate fashion and manages the resources of the surgical suite.

The knowledge, skills and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a degree or diploma in nursing along with two (2) years of recent acute care experience. Completion of a perioperative specific training program and one (1) year recent experience within an Operating Room setting is essential. Candidates must be eligible to register with RNANT/NU. This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
