Overview

As Military Police, your primary responsibilities include:

Support CAF missions by providing law enforcement and operational support.
Investigate and report on incidents involving military and criminal offences
Develop and implement crime prevention measures to protect military communities from criminal acts
Coordinate tasks related to detainees (including military detainees and prisoners of war)
Provide security at selected Canadian embassies around the world
Provide community services through mediation, negotiation, conflict resolution, public relations and victim assistance
Perform other policing functions, such as traffic control, traffic accident investigation, emergency response and liaison with Canadian, allied and foreign police forces.

To join the CAF, you must :

be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada
be at least 18 years of age (17 with parental consent) except for:
subsidized study programs, at least 16 years of age (with parental consent)
Primary Reserve, must be at least 16 (with parental consent) and in full-time studies
completion of grade 10 or secondary 4 in Quebec (some jobs require a higher level of education)


Educational requirements

This occupation requires applicants to have at least one diploma from an approved program at a post-secondary institution. Contact your local recruiter for a list of approved programs.

Foreign studies may be recognized.

 

Direct entry program

The ideal candidate will already have a degree in Law and Security Administration, Police Foundations, or have successfully completed a similar program at a community or Canadian college. The CAF will decide if your program of study meets the position's criteria, and you may be sent directly to on-the-job training after obtaining your basic military qualification.

A valid provincial driver's license is also required.
