The Organization


In collaboration with our consortium partner, Arctic Infrastructure Partners, Nunavut Airport Services LTD provides Airport Management, Airport Operations, Facility Maintenance and Technical Services for the Iqaluit International Airport.

Under a 30-year Public Private Partnership (P3 or PPP) concession with the Government of Nunavut, Arctic Infrastructure Partners is contracted to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the expansion and redevelopment of the Iqaluit International Airport.

Although more commonplace on the international stage, this is the first and only completed airport PPP project in Canada. And as part of this project, Iqaluit International Airport also became the first ISO 9001 Quality Management System accredited airport operation in Canada.

 

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Manager, the Airport Electrician performs electrical maintenance; services, repairing, rebuilding, and installation of electrical systems, equipment, and machinery at the Airport.

 

Responsibilities Include
Calibrate, install and modify electrical/electronic controls for all airport machinery and building equipment
Troubleshoot AC/DC motors and speed controls
Perform electrical maintenance and repair on power generator buildings and associated switchgear
Perform electrical maintenance and repair on Airport Runways lighting systems and related equipment
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on building systems, machinery and equipment
Maintain inventory for electrical/electronic parts and components
Coordinate efforts with other airport team members to accomplish goals and objectives
Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act


Selection Criteria include:
Valid Red Seal Journeyman Maintenance Electrician certification.
Minimum 3 years’ experience
Airport Electrical experience considered an asset
Excellent aptitude of machinery with specific working knowledge of electrical/electronic motors, components and controls
Basic understanding of converting machinery and ability to troubleshoot electrical problems, including complex running faults
Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams and blueprints
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work in a team environment and independently
Class 5 driver’s license, with the ability to acquire and maintain an Airport Vehicle Operator Permit “D/A” AVOP
Customer focused individual who maintains a high level of professionalism in both public and corporate environments
Basic working experience with Microsoft Office programs
Previous experience with Building Management Systems an asset
Experience with a computerized maintenance management system is an asset
Understanding of baggage systems and controls an asset
Previous experience with airfield lighting is considered an asset
Ability to work shift work and be on-call outside of normal shift schedule.


Working Conditions:
This full-time position will be stationed in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Candidates must have the ability to work shift work and be on-call outside of normal shift schedule. Candidates must be willing to relocate to Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada.
