Carrefour Nunavut is seeking a versatile, resourceful, organized, and self-motivated individual with strong initiative for the position of Administrative and Accounting Assistant.

Carrefour Nunavut is an economic development organization based in Iqaluit, Nunavut. As the only direct service provider to Francophones in the territory, its mission is to support the growth of Francophones and Francophiles and to strengthen the local business community. For eleven years, the organization has supported its clients and members in their desire to live, work, start businesses, visit, invest, or hire in Nunavut. Its main areas of activity include: employability, immigration, tourism, entrepreneurship, sustainable development, youth, and early childhood.
Position Description:
The Administrative and Accounting Assistant oversees the administrative, financial, and accounting functions of Carrefour Nunavut. The successful candidate possesses strong expertise in accounting, administrative management, and financial planning.
The incumbent supports the Executive Director on various operational files and ensures rigorous and timely follow-up. They are responsible for managing multiple files—some of strategic importance—and proactively propose new ideas, procedures, or standards to enhance the organization’s administrative efficiency. They also provide administrative support to the Executive Director as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate meetings of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and other committees: prepare annual meeting calendars, manage logistics, draft agendas and supporting documentation, attend select meetings, and prepare minutes;
Manage the Executive Director’s calendar;
Develop and monitor budgets, control cash flow, and provide financial reporting to senior management (General Ledger);
Maintain accurate bookkeeping and ensure compliance with financial and accounting recordkeeping standards;
Process supplier invoices, code them for accounting purposes, prepare payment requests, and issue cheques;
Track payroll-related data, including leave balances, expense reimbursements, and personnel records;
Draft correspondence for partners;
Manage documentation, including filing and data entry;
Maintain the organization’s contact and partner database;
Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations (GST/HST, WSCC, payroll deductions, etc.);
Oversee office supply procurement, ensure proper functioning of equipment and software, and coordinate with team members to manage vendor services;
Handle incoming postal and electronic mail and documents, and facilitate internal information flow.
Position Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or an equivalent qualification.
Professional Experience:
Minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in accounting, finance, or administrative management.Proficiency in Sage 50 accounting software.
Technical Skills:
Solid knowledge of tax, legal, and employment regulations;
Good understanding of internal control frameworks;
Strong command of accounting software and office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office).

Salary: $85,000
